Youth Life and Job Skills Program

The Youth Life and Job Skills Program supports equity-deserving youth in building the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to navigate adulthood and enter the workforce with purpose. Through culturally responsive and youth-centered programming, participants explore career pathways, develop job readiness, and take meaningful steps toward their personal and professional aspirations.

Designed for newcomer youth ages 15 to 24, the program fosters career exploration and goal setting, while building practical tools to support each young person’s unique journey.

Youth Business Building Program

The Youth Business Building Program equips young people with the knowledge, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset to turn their ideas into future business opportunities. Through hands-on learning and peer collaboration, participants explore business development as a viable path toward economic empowerment and self-determination.

Program Components:

  • Entrepreneurial Skills Development – Eight sessions focused on the fundamentals of starting and sustaining a business.
  • Business Ideation & Planning – Three sessions to support the creation of viable business ideas and detailed planning.
  • Presentation & Showcase – One session where participants pitch their business ideas and receive feedback.

Program Schedule:

  • Cohort 1: Begins in August (Registration deadline: July 30)
  • Cohort 2: Runs November to December (Registration deadline: October 15)

Participants leave the program with a stronger sense of agency and practical tools to shape their futures through entrepreneurship.

01. What is Youth Work Exposure program

AHC’s Work Exposure Program bridges the gap between newcomer youth and the job market by providing real-world experience, practical skills, and professional insight. The program empowers participants to explore career paths, strengthen their workplace readiness, and build the confidence needed to navigate the workforce with purpose.

02. How it works

The Youth Work Exposure has 3 stages:

  • Fundamental Skills Training
  • 30 paid hours of work exposure
  • Program evaluation

03. Who is eligible

  • Newcomer to Canada youth (PR status)
  • Aged 18-24
  • Meet & Greet Interview completed to assess communication skills and commitment level.
