Does Action for Healthy Communities provide language interpretation for its intake services?

Action for Healthy Communities has a diverse, multicultural team that speaks over 40 languages, including French, Dari, Ukrainian, Mandarin, Arabic, Tigrigna, Amharic, Turkish, Somali, and more.

I want to improve my English and other skillsets. Do you have any adult classes?

Action for Healthy Communities’ Adult Literacy and Skills Development (ALSD) program helps you build essential literacy, life, and employability skills to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Our course offerings include:

  • English language learning classes (Levels 1–4)
  • Computer (digital) literacy classes (Levels 1–2)
  • Health literacy
  • Basic legal literacy
  • Financial literacy
  • Senior learning opportunities
  • Artificial intelligence literacy

How can I apply for travel documentations or a Canadian passport

Where can I register for tax services?

Action for Healthy Communities (AHC) free 2026 Tax Clinic will provide free tax services to eligible clients from March 2 to April 30, weekdays (excluding statutory holidays), from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

In preparation for your appointment, please bring:

  • Government Issued ID
  • Applicable T- Slips
  • Receipts for tax deductible expenses (ex. charitable donations, medical expenses, childcare expenses)
  • If applicable: Disability tax credit certificate
  • Optional: Direct deposit information

We file 2025 Tax Returns for the following income levels:

  • Individual $40,000 or less
  • Couple $55,000 or less
  • Each additional individual or independent claimed will raise the income level by $5000

We do NOT prepare tax returns for the following:

  • Self-employment, business, or rental income/expenses
  • Capital gains or losses
  • Interest income over $1,200
  • Bankruptcy
  • A deceased person
  • Foreign property or income

Do you provide any support for newcomers starting a small business or have recently started a small business?

Action for Healthy Communities Entrepreneurship Supports Program provides business coaching and mentoring, consulting, training, resources, and networking opportunities.

To qualify, you must be:

  • Ages 18-30
  • CLB 4+
  • permanent resident or convention refugee

How do I volunteer with Action for Healthy Communities?

We offer a variety of volunteer roles, which may include:

  • Front Desk / Reception
  • IT / Data Analytics
  • Data Entry / Administration
  • Tax Clinic Filing (February–April each year)
  • Special Events

Volunteer openings vary throughout the year depending on program needs and the unique skills each volunteer brings. To find the best fit, every volunteer begins with an interview.
