Our family would like to sincerely thank AHC for all that they have done for us. We are new to Canada, and AHC has been even more caring than a family to us, helping with physical, emotional, and psychological support. When we came to Canada we were confronted by the cold winter, and AHC showed us how to protect ourselves from the cold and brought us all that we needed to keep warm. All of us truly loved that. With their help, we are finding our place in Alberta society, Canadian society. We are getting there, little by little, we are moving forward.

— The Bakajika Family (Leduc)

My favourite time each month is when SWIS comes to my school! We play games, do activities, and we learned how to make ice cream from a bag! I love when we get to do SWIS. It makes school fun.

— Student, EICS School Division, age 9

My little girl loves dance and music and performing arts. She was overjoyed when she got a chance to learn ballet last summer during the weeklong training. It was amazing seeing her and other little ones get a shot at ballet and experiencing a dance studio. As children, they got something to TELL about during their Show and Tell sessions at school. As a newcomer, it’s those opportunities don’t happen every day.

— Catherine Namuddu, Leduc

Action for Healthy Communities is one of the places I am most happy to visit, because of the warm reception and the wonderful employees. I especially mention Yasmine who was one of my biggest assistants to me in applying for Alberta Income Support, registering for Basically Babies package for my newborn baby, applying for travel documents, and registering us for Civida community housing. AHC staff worked with a pure heart and love, so everything was successful with us. Thank you to the AHC and Yasmine

— Hadeel Ayach

Since 2023, my case worker in AHC has supported my family and me through important milestones. He first helped us update our names on our Permanent Resident cards. More recently, he guided us through the Canadian citizenship application process—creating an online account, completing the forms, uploading documents, and paying the fees. Thanks to his great help, my brothers and I passed the citizenship exam and officially became Canadian citizens. It was a proud and unforgettable moment.

— Liam Louis

I came to AHC in January 2025 looking for support with updating my status with the CRA and help with my Canadian citizenship application. My case worker assisted me with the CRA-related issues. At the same time, he helped me through the entire citizenship application process. They guided me in creating an account on the Canadian Citizenship portal, filling out the application online, uploading all the required documents, and paying the fees. Their support made the process much easier and less stressful for me, and I’m very thankful for their help.
